In the countryside near Todi, are several villages considered real jewels of architecture, atmosphere and history.

This lovely village is situated about 12 km north of Todi and is one of "The most beautiful villages in Italy"
Looking out from the panoramic terrace of the Oberdan Gardens in Todi, you can see Montecastello perched on top
of a hill...it appears as if the two towns are looking at each other!
Montecastello will charm you with its narrow, medieval streets which are proudly manteined by inhabitants.

Montecastello is also famous for its tiny theatre, Teatro della Concordia, the SMALLEST IN THE WORLD: a real gem with
just 99 seats. The theatre can be visited by appointment, but for more information please visit the website www.teatropiccolo.it olive oil of Montecastello is very famous and the village is part of the "Road of extra-virgin olive oil Dop Umbria"

About 12 km southeast of Todi is Massa Martana.
This centre, nestled in the shadow of the Martani Mountains had great importance in Roman time, since it is located along the Flaminian Road ( a very important trading route )
The old town has been completely ronovated after the earthquake in 1997: it will be fascinating to walk along the streets of this
ancient town that is also one of "The most beautiful villages of Italy".

Massa Martana is renowned for the wines "Colli Martani", its olive oil Dop "Colli Martani", Umbrian nougat (torrone) called "nociata",
mushrooms and asparagus.

The territory of Massa is also dotted with ancient churches, situated in pleasant and characteristic places: Santa Maria in Pantano,
the Abbey of S. Faustino and the church of S. Fidenzio e Terenzio among others.
